Matthew Shtrahman MD-PhD, President and Founder
Colin A. Depp PhD, Secretary
Jason W. Park BA, Treasurer
Matthew Shtrahman received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Michigan in 1997. He completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. His thesis work in the Department of Physics and Astronomy utilized novel optical techniques to study synaptic vesicle dynamics in neurons. Dr. Shtrahman is currently a resident in the Department of Neurology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine
His primary research focus is spatiotemporal patterns of neuronal activity in the brain. He hopes to utilize a variety of experimental models and techniques to understand how these patterns code for information during physiological activity, as well as how they are altered in disease states such as seizure. These methods include magnetoencephalography (MEG) and electroencephalography (EEG) recordings from human subjects, as well as optical techniques and multi electrode array studies in animal models. Dr. Shtrahman plans to combine fundamental ideas from condensed matter physics and neuroscience with lessons learned from his clinical practice to study the human brain.

Jason Park is currently a doctoral student in strategic planning at the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. He received his BA in philosophy cum laude from Harvard University in 1997. His current research interests include mergers and acquisitions and strategic alliances, while methodologically he plans on keeping up to date with various regression-based statistical techniques such as structural-equations modeling and hierarchical linear modeling. Theoretically, he is fascinated with how resource dependence theory (Pfeffer & Salancik, 1977) might be used to predict international mergers and acquisitions, as well as international strategic alliances.
